About
A small house for table games
Tessamere is an independent games company in Pennsylvania. We make a few things carefully: games meant to live on the table, not in the closet.
What we care about
- Pieces you want to hold. Weight, edges and finish matter as much as the picture.
- Faces you can read. Design comes second to telling one tile from another across the table.
- Made to be kept. Spares in the box, care that is simple, and help when something goes wrong.
The name
A tessera is one small tile in a mosaic; in Latin the word also meant a die or a game token. Tessamere puts it together with mere, an old English word for a lake, the kind of name a house might have. A place for games, built tile by tile.
Our first game
The Conservatory is an American mahjong set, drawn from a glasshouse in full bloom. See the set.
